IGI says a Richard Dye of Godstone SRY married Mary Roffey of Bletchingly 19 July 1745 ?? See other Roffeys of Gatton [ Anthony could be father but no record of her birth - he could also be her uncle - search for father.

 

She married Edmund Fulluck #1179, 09 Oct 1744, in LDS Film 1042343 Gatton SRY - banns, b. c 1720, Singleton SSX, occupation carpenter, d. 7 Oct 1768, Gatton SRY,[2] buried: 11 Oct 1768, Gatton PC SRY.  Edmund:  From manor leasehold records and other Fulluck family records in Elizabeth Hollidays disc. see

I.     Patience Fulluck #1173, b. cir 1746, Gatton, Surrey at time of marriage., d. after 1788.  Marriage licence shows mariage 30 April 1766; He was 21 and she 20, marrying with consent of her father Edmond Fullock, carpenter. All children were baptised as Meredith, but all dates fit and all turn up again in the Merredew line

       She and John lived in a leasehold in Merstham - see Elizabeth's file on the leasehold records.

      

       She married John Merredew #1172, 30 April 1766, in Gatton PC SRY, b. cir 1745, Surrey?,[3] christened John Merydew, alternate name, occupation carpenter.

       D.   Thomas Merredew #21, b. c1772,[4] baptized 8 Sep 1772, Merstham PC SRY,[5] occupation Carrier, d. 17 July 1847, Croydon,Sry.,[6] buried: July 1847, St. John Bap.Croydon,Sry.[7]  Date of death from Jesse Ward's Croydon Memorials printed 1882.On marriage shown as living in Bletchingley, married by licence, witness's John Merredew & Francis Buckmaster.Age 75 at death, died of hydratharax informate William Merredew of Parson's Mead Croydon. Died at Broad Green at 12 min to 4pm. 1841 census just shows Thomas age 65 lab and born in Surrey a carrier at Waddon. In 1811 census for Croydon Thomas a carrier of 20/21 Broad Green.

             Now 273 London Rd Croydon.

            

             He married Elizabeth Hannah Dowsett #22, 12 Apr 1801, in Bletchingley,Sry,[8] b. 6 Mar 1780, Croydon,Sry.,[9] (daughter of James Dowsett #32 and Elizabeth Bird #33) baptized 16 April 1780, St. John Bap.Croydon,Sry,[10] occupation Laundress,[11] d. 7 Jul 1853, Croydon,Sry., buried: July 1853, St. John Bap.Croydon,Sry.[12]  Elizabeth: In 1851 Croydon census age 71 living at Broad Green with two of her daughters Frances & Emma all shown as laundress's and born in Croydon.

[14]  Address at marriage for both Thomas & Sarah South Islands Place,Kennington Address in 1851 census 22 Old Town,Croydon.Age 48. Age at death 72.

                   

                    He married Sarah Branddon #39, 13.3.1838, in Kennington,Sry,[15] b. c1815, Croydon,Sry., (daughter of Thomas Branddon #41 and Branddon/wife/Thomas #40) ref: 00AA, d. 1857, Croydon,Sry. [16]

                   

             2.    William Meredew #24, b. 31.8.1804, Croydon,Sry., baptized 4.11.1804, St. John Bap.Croydon,Sry, ref: 00AA, occupation Coachman, d. 8.4.1871, Croydon,Sry., buried: 14.4.1871, Queen's Rd. Cemetery,Croydon. [17]  Spelling of surname varies, at birth Meredew, on son James's marriage shown Merredew.On own marriage Merridew. Shown on 1871 Census at 16 Waddon Rd. which was taken the 2nd and 3rd April so he died just a few days latter. Witness's to marriage James Newman and Francis Merridew (his sister). Address in 1851 census 7 Conduit Mews, Marylebone (St.James)Wm age 46.

                   

                    He married Caroline Newman #61, 8.9.1833, in St. Mary, Lewisham,Kt.,[18] b. c1807, East Grinstead,Ssx.,[19] d. 1883, Croydon,Sry. [20]  Caroline: Age 76 at death.1871 census at 16 Waddon Rd. Croydon next door to her son James. She is 65 and shown born in East Grinstead.

                   

             3.    John Merredew #25, b. 1.2.1807, Croydon,Sry.,[21] baptized 7.6.1807, St. John Bap.Croydon,Sry, ref: 00AA, occupation Gardener, d. 15.12.1887, Dorking,Sry. [22]  In will leaves items to sister Emma Merredew & appointed nephew James Merredew of 17 Wadden New Rd. Croydon printer executor. Address at death 201 (287) Orchard Rd. Dorking. In 1861 shown living at Parsons Mead with His wife Maria where I think Parson's Mead School must have been.Also 1851 census. On marriage shown of full age bac.living at Temple Lane, London. Witness's Henry Smith and Sarah Good.

                   

                    He married Maria Stacey #120, 27.11.1842, in St. Bride,Lnd, divorced Banns, b. c1821, Christchurch, Hants.,[23] ref: 00AA, occupation School mistress., d. 28.7.1861, Parson's Mead,Croydon,Sry.,[24] buried: Sept. 1861, Christ Churchyard,Croydon,Sry. [25]  Maria:  Memorial inscription from Jesse Ward's Croydon Memorials. page 101 Christ Churchyard. Maria wife of John Merrewdew died 28.7.1861 age 40. Mrs. Merredew was formerly mistress of what was called, before her death, "The Mead School" and many of the present good wives of Croydon owe their education to her.Cause of death on cert. schirrus mamma 2 years exhaustion. On marriage shown as of full age, father's name John a carpenter, address Plat St. London.

                   

             4.    Frances Mary Merredew #26, b. 8.9.1809, Croydon,Sry., baptized 22.11.1809, St.John the Baptist,Croydon,Sry., occupation Laundress, d. 1877, Croydon,Sry. [26]  In 1851 Frances together with sister Emma still living with mother in Broads Green, Croydon. Still at same address 1861 & 1871 and unmarried and living with sister Emma. Age 69 at death.

             8.    Emma Merredew #30, b. 1816, Croydon,Sry., baptized 25.9.1816, St. John Bap.Croydon,Sry, occupation Laundress, d. 1.9.1892, Dorking,Sry.   Named in brother John's will in 1887. Left will on her death to Maria wife

                    of James nephew of Emma.Lived with her sister Frances in 1851,1861 & 1871 census's at Broads Green, Croydon.At death lived at 30 Hampstead Rd.Dorking.

 

             9.    Charles Thomas Merredew #19, b. 26 Jan 1819, Croydon,Sry., occupation Gardener, d. 1880, Wandsworth,Sry.[27]  Witness's to marriage W. Merredew and A. Merredew probably brother and sister to Charles. Address at marriage for both Praed St.Paddington.Address at birth of son Charles -783- 18 New Town, Brixton Hill, Streatham. Age at death 61.

                   

                    He married Sarah Root #20, 30 April1853, in St. John's Ch. Paddington,Mdx.,[28] b. 9 Feb 1823, Chipping Barnett HRT, (daughter of Samuel Root #1104 and Elizabeth Root #1105). Sarah: Father Samuel Root a dairyman

             10.  George Merredew #31, b. 1821, Croydon,Sry., baptized 5.8.1821, St. John Bap.Croydon,Sry,[29] ref: 00AA, occupation Brick Maker.  Dead before 1874 when son Frederick married.Address in 1846 Broads Green, Croydon.Name spelt with an i on marriage, address Broads  Green,witness Wm. Williams and Jane Brooks.

                   

                    He married Mary Ann McCarty #145, 24.2.1850, in St. Mary, Newington,Sry, b. c1827,[30] (daughter of Edward McCarty #147 and Mary Ann Pring #146) d. 1854.

                   

II.   Edmund Fulluck #1499, b. c 1749, Gatton SRY, buried: 23 Dec 1785, Gatton SRY.[31]

      

       He married Elizabeth Comber #5405, 3 July 1767.

      

       A.   Edmund Fulluck #5406, b. 1 Dec 1767, Gatton SRY, baptized 27 Dec 1767,[32] occupation Victualler, d. 1823.  On death was said to be 'late of Lovell Heath' Info from affidavit of Charles Roffey his cousin in possesion - in which he was recounting his recollections of Edmund and his family for legal purposes . Apparently Sarah left Edmund and lived with one Hervey? who kept the canteen at Brighton and later at Eastbourne,.When he died in 1823 he was said to have left four children by another woman.

            

             He married Sarah Orgles #5407, May 1791.
